Maran-atha National and International Pentecostal Missionary Union Maran-atha was the official periodical of the National and International Pentecostal Missionary Union (NIPMU), a Pentecostal denomination founded in 1914 by former Lutheran pastor Philip Wittich. In March 1930, NIPMU claimed 238 credentialed ministers, including 45 foreign missionaries. Maran-atha included theological articles and news from churches and missionaries. Following Wittich's death, NIPMU merged in 1936 with the Association of Pentecostal Assemblies to form the International Pentecostal Assemblies, which ultimately merged into the International Pentecostal Church of Christ in 1976. The Pentecostal Testimony William H. Durham, ed. The Pentecostal Testimony, published by William H. Durham, was an important early Pentecostal periodical. Durham was best known for promoting a "finished work" view of sanctification, which rejected the Wesleyan idea that one can instantaneously experience "entire sanctification" (Christian perfection). Durham served as pastor of the influential North Avenue Mission in Chicago from 1901 until 1911, when he moved to Los Angeles.
