TOBY CROSBY of Palatka, Fla., celebrates his 118th birthday yesterday as he and his wife of 60 years, LULA, 86, read a happy birthday greeting from one of the many persons who sent congratulations, including President Nixon and Gov. Reubin Askew. A party was held in his honor at his church, Lily of the Valley Church of Our Lord. (AP Wirephoto). Toby Crosby (1854-1976) lived to be 122 years old, according to his obituary in the New York Times (May 26, 1976). He was believed to be the second oldest person in America at the time. Lily of the Valley Church of Our Lord of the Apostolic Faith was later renamed Refuge Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith (Palatka, FL).
