Description:

The earliest minutes are of the first meeting of the board of trustees of the United Christian Workers Union and Russian and Eastern European Mission, Oct 3, 1928.
The Christian Workers Union, began in 1875 as undenominational, non-sectarian religious publishing and home and foreign missionary work. In 1920, it was incorporated under the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. At its annual meeting in 1928, it voted to unite the work with the Russian and Eastern European Mission, a corporation organized under the laws of the State of Illinois, with headquarters at Chicago, Illinois. Part of the trustees of the Russian and Eastern European Mission were made members and trustees of the Christian Workers Union, and it was voted unanimously to vest all government and management of the Christian Workers Union in its Board of Trustees.
On Dec 18, 1929, the first meeting of the incorporators of Bethel Home for the Aged was held. Paul B. Peterson, president of the Russian and Eastern European Mission, was unanimously elected temporary clerk of the home. Subsequently, the minutes of the three organizations--Christian Workers Union, Russian and Eastern European Mission, and Bethel Home for the Aged--seem to be intertwined. The home eventually came under the jurisdiction of the New England District of the Assemblies of God.
