Description:

Volume 8 is missing [Mark 11:22-33]
Not in sentence form. It consists of Tibetan words with English translation.
These volumes are part of Victor Plymire's Tibetan langauge lesson. They are done in his handwriting and consist of his efforts to translate the book of Mark from Tibetan back into English. While the contents may be intelligible to only a Tibetan or one of the very few non-Tibetans who made the effort to learn this language, much can be learned from the binding material used to hold the pages together. The binding material was old periodicals which were put to use rather than discarded. There is a wealth of material on the bindings. Very few dates are visible. However, indications are the year is 1916. The use of these periodicals for the binding indicates the frugality of missionaries of that era. Their allowance (if they got it) was $25 per month--David Plymire.
