Description:

This file consists chiefly of missionary correspondence from Abraham and Lavinia Heidal who went as Pentecostal missionaries to China in the early 1900s and served through the early 1940s. In 1941, Japanese soldiers raided their missionary compound and the Heidals became prisoners of war until June 6, 1942. The Heidals made claim with the Foreign Claims Settlement Commission for reimbursement for the confiscated missionary property in China. This long process was not settled until after the Heidals' death. The money was finally paid to the Bethel Assembly of God, Fosston, Minnesota in August of 1984.
