James R. Hicks, superintendent of the New England District, left the AG in 1929 after being charged with heresy over his book, A Child in the Temple. He became a leader in a small regional denomination, The Northern Pentecostal Fellowship, served as editor of its periodical, and established the Hephizbah Home and Bible School.
