Former title: The morning star

The Lower Light merged with The Apostolic Faith and the title on the masthead read 'The Apostolic Faith and the lower light' (47:4, Oct/Dec 1954-49:2, Mar/Apr 1956). 'Lower light' was dropped from the title after that.

After apparently deciding to discontinue the title, 'The morning star,' the Apostolic Faith publishers ran one transitional issue, numbered 104L. It is identical to 'The apostolic faith,' issue 104, except for the masthead and the issue number (104L instead of 104). The masthead for 'The lower light' replaced that of 'The apostolic faith' on this one issue. After that, the run of 11 issues of 'The lower light' were distinct publications from 'The apostolic faith.'

This publication and its predecessor, 'The morning star,' may have been specifically directed toward sailors. The Apostolic Faith Mission carried out an extensive evangelistic effort geared toward sailors along the northern Pacific coast, both civilian and military. They even operated ships, called The Morning Star and The Lower Light, for evangelization among ship crews and coastal residents.
