Prior to his trip to Azusa Street and his return with the acceptance and experience of the doctrine of tongues as the evidence of Holy Spirit baptism, C. H. Mason was associated with C. P. Jones in the fledgling holiness association, The Church of God or Church of God in Christ. Jones published a paper called 'Truth.' The two separated in 1907 over tongues. Mason and his associates continued with the name, Church of God in Christ, and began publishing 'The whole truth.' Jones and his associates settled on the use of the name Church of Christ (Holiness) USA.
