The layout of the chart was copyrighted in 1927. This particular chart is dated and presumably was completed on January 31, 1931, being hand drawn by Carl D. Holleman (1911-2001) when he was 20 years old. Holleman went on to serve as an Assemblies of God missionary to India.This appears to be one of the first Bible prophecy charts that Pentecostal Bible teacher Finis Dake (1902-1987) created, as later charts are copyrighted in 1928. This particular chart appears to have been sold as a monochrome printed banner, with multiple copies being produced at the same time. The chart was handpainted later.

According to the Dake Bible company, this particular chart was used by Dake when he left his teaching position at Southwestern Bible School in the summer of 1931 for evangelist travels. Dake was 29 years old at the time. Oral history says that Dake at some point gave this chart to John G. Hall, who had been one of his Bible students for three years at Shiloh Bible Institute in Zion City, Illinois, during the 1930s. John G. Hall used the chart for a while until he decided to make his own chart. Then probably in the early 1980s, John G. Hall decided to give this original chart to Dr. Hershel A. Brummett, a former president of Southwestern Assemblies of God University (1978-1982), who retained the chart until he passed away in 2014. The Brummett family gave the chart to Dr. Don and Lavern Love, who in turn donated the chart to the Flower Pentecostal Heritage Center in August 2015.

The Plan of the Ages is a dispensational chart that shows the purpose of God in creation, both before and after the cross. The seven dispensations of man are fully illustrated including: the dispensation of Innocence, the dispensation of Conscience, the dispensation of Human Government, the dispensation of Promise, the dispensation of Law, the dispensation of Grace including the Tribulation, and the dispensation of the Millennium.
