Frank M. Boyd founded the General Council Correspondence School in 1948. In 1958, the school's named changed to Berean School of the Bible. In 1967, the Assemblies of God Board of Education suggested that the ministerial training be officially assigned to Berean School of the Bible. Berean School of the Bible became Berean College in 1985. Then, in 1995 the name changed to Berean University of the Assemblies of God as a graduate program was added. In 1998, Berean University and ICI University merged and became Global University. However, Berean School of the Bible has always been retained as the name of the division within the institutions (i.e., Berean College, Berean University, and Global University) having oversight of the institute-level ministerial training programs.
