Demetri Kusming Spasenkin, a Russian army officer, settled in Huang Yuan, China in 1930, raised a family, and became a devout Pentecostal believer. He was a close friend of Victor Plymire, the AG missionary to China. In 2015, Victor's son, David Plymire, traveled to China and reunited with Demetri's son, Paul Si. Paul gave David Plymire this Bible, which Victor originally gave to Demetri, and also related several stories about Demetri. David Plymire wrote down the stories, which included an account from 1949 when a communist official threatened to shoot Demetri unless he recanted his faith. The inscription inside of the Bible reads : To D. K. Spasenkin, Huang Yuan, Tsinghua, China. 1 Corinthians, 13th chapter. From your brother in the Lord. V. G. Plymire, Sept. 1946.
