Mary Kimmer was a member of Jamaica Tabernacle (Jamaica, NY) which was affiliated with the Church of God of Prophecy and pastored by Homer Tomlinson.

Caption on the back of the photograph says: 'RELIGION'S 'JOAN OF ARC'--HOPES TO UNITE ALL FAITHS. JAMAICA, L.I.--SISTER MARY KIMMER, JAMAICA, LONG ISLAND'S JOAN OF ARC IS PREACHING IN FRONT OF A FLEUR DE LIS BANNER WITH A SWORD AND HELMET ON THE PULPIT. THE GOLDEN-HAIRED 18-YEAR-OLD EVANGELIST HOPES TO UNITED [sic] ALL THE RELIGIOUS FAITHS OF THE WORLD. MISS KIMMER PLANS TO ADDRESS A CONGREGATION OF FIREMEN SHORTLY.
