Description:
|
Howard and Edith Osgood went to China as AG appointed missionaries in 1929. In 1945, while itinerating for another term, Howard was appointed as Field Secretary for all of China. He continued on the field in that capacity until 1949, when all missionaries were required to leave the country. From 1950-1955, he served as Field Secretary for the entire Far East. In 1959 the Osgoods returned to mission field--this time to Malaya, where he founded the Bible Institute of Malaya. Altogether Howard and Edith spent 35 years of ministry in the Orient. In addition to his missionary service, Howard was a gifted musician. He studied to be a concert pianist, a gift he used on the field. He also served for a time as director of the music department at Central Bible Institute, composed gospel songs, and published a Chinese hymnal.
