The General Conference of the Church of God of the Firstborn (Newton, KS) published The True Messenger in Newton, KS, until 1971, when editor Ronald Wiggins moved to South Carolina. It was not until the Church of God of the Firstborn in South Carolina was organized in 1985 by Wiggins that The True Messenger began to be published again under the authority of the General Conference of the Church of God of the Firstborn (Newton, KS), although it was published in South Carolina. In the late 1980s a church split occurred and the church in Newton, KS, began publishing its own periodical, also titled The True Messenger. All issues published in Newton, KS, are cataloged separately.
