Description:

TO: Ralph M. Riggs from W. T. Gaston voicing his concerns over unscriptural and unethical practices arising in the Assemblies of God--prosperity gospel, special revelations, 'seers' diagnosing diseases from the pulpit. He urges Riggs, as Superintendent to take a stand against all unscriptural teachings, methods, and conduct and to return to the 'early ideals' upon which we were established. This is not a treatise against Brother Riggs personally. In fact, the letter closes with 'God bless you as you struggle under a very heavy load. Our prayers are with you--our loyalties as well.'
A second carbon copy of this letter with handwritten notes is also in the file (8 p.). This copy was donated by George R. Stotts.
