Description:

Newton L. A. Eastman was a leader in Gospel Workers of America, a Wesleyan Holiness organization founded in 1894. Eastman and the Gospel Workers of America identified with the Pentecostal movement, circa 1906-1914.

On cover: A brief account of the trial of Bishop Eastman. Every article for which he was indicted is herein printed.

Between 1906 and 1908, Eastman was arrested and indicted four times, charged with obscenity and libel for writing articles critical of the Catholic church. The cases went to the Supreme Court of New York, which found Eastman not guilty.
