Description:

The Assemblies of God in Australia was renamed the Australian Christian Churches in 2007. Brian Houston, pastor of Hillsong Church, served as the denomination's president from 1997 to 2009. In 2018, Hillsong withdrew from the ACC to form its own denomination. While the initial Hillsong Church is located in the suburbs of Sydney, the global network now has churches in many other countries.
This article is based on an interview on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) program Praise, which aired June 8, 2018. At this time, Hillsong Church was still part of the Australian Christian Churches (AG). However, discussions about the separation must have been ongoing. By mid-September, Hillsong announced their withdrawal from the ACC.
