The General Council Correspondence School was founded in 1948. In 1958, the school's name changed to Berean School of the Bible. In 1967, the International Correspondence Institute (ICI) was founded. Its name was changed to ICI University in 1993. Berean School of the Bible became Berean College in 1985, and Berean University of the Assemblies of God in 1995. However, Berean School of the Bible has always been retained as the name of the division of the institution having oversight of the institute-level ministerial training programs. In 1998, Berean University and ICI University merged and became Global University.

The undergraduate catalogs for 1997/1998 and 1999/2000 also served as a student handbook.
