Title:

Report of the Liberia Interior Mission, 1908-1916.

Format:

20 p. (typed manuscript) ; 28 cm.

Description:

Original edition printed by H. Sharp, Bath, England. This is a typed transcription of the original.

Early Pentecostal missionaries were part of the Liberia Interior Mission, which consisted of American and Canadian missionaries, white and black, from various denominational backgrounds, all of whom had the Pentecostal experience. This report described the organization: 'We represent Methodist, Presbyterian, Congregational, Baptist, Dunkard, Mennonite, Quakers, Pentecostal Holiness, Mission People and Gospel Workers. So you see we are a sort of mixture, but no dispute has ever arisen in our ranks. We make the Bible the chief book, and strive to live simple and Christian lives. We baptize by immersion. All believe in the Pentecostal Experience, as received on the day of Pentecost.'

Individuals mentioned as being on the field for the report: J. M. L. Harrow, W. H. Johnson, Rhodema Mendenhall (later married Harry Bowley), John & Jessie Perkins, Miss M. M. Hisey, Sarah Johnson, Macie Boddy, Isaac & Mattie Neeley, Harry Bowley, Cora Fisher, Miss C. M. Snyder, Laura Arnold [Canadian] (later married R. E. McAlister), Ethel Bingeman [Canadian?], Mr. Blocker, Frederick Knoll, Miss Marr, and Bernice Pottorff.

Holdings: FPHC holds 3 copies of this report. Two of them appear identical, except for some editorial notations,--one being a photocopy of the other. The third is a retyped copy in a larger typescript. It is missing p. 11, and is 25 pages; otherwise it contains the same information.
