Title:

The gospel of the kingdom ; The apostolic faith (Alvin, TX)

Publisher:

Alvin, TX : J. G. Campbell, [n.d.]

Format:

v. : ill. ; 28-39 cm.

Description:

The issue for Sep 1907 states that this publication was started by Charles Parham in Topeka, KS, in 1897. It was published as The Apostolic Faith. It is unclear whether Parham edited this issue (Sep 1907), or if Campbell was serving as the editor. Apparently, in 1908, Campbell assumed full editorship, began with a new volume number, and changed the title to The Gospel of the Kingdom (while maintaining The Apostolic Faith on the masthead). [Note: the Sep 1907 issue is included in the listing here, but there is also another record specifically for that title. ID: 115892]

Nearly all of the issues and fragments for this title are available digitally on pentecostalarchives.org.

The main fragments of the Sep 1907 issue are available on pentecostalarchive.org as The apostolic faith (Alvin, TX). The additional fragments that have been identified with that issue are listed under the undated fragments of The gospel of the kingdom.

In addition to the dated issues, the collection includes 24 undated fragments, ranging from small pieces to 12 pages. Most of these have been identified with one of the dated issues (see notes below). However, the numbering (1-24) of these fragments has been maintained in the collection since this is how they are listed on pentecostalarchives.org.

Fragments 10 and 13 are part of 3:11 (Sep 1907).

The following fragments are all part of the same issue. This is believed to be 3:11 (Sep 1907), but that has not been conclusively determined. Fragments: 7, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 22.

Fragments 4 and 8 are part of 1:2 (Jul 1908). In addition, there is a small dated piece (which is not on pentecostalarchives.org).

Fragments 3 and 20 have been identified as 1:? (? 1908). The actual date does not appear on these pieces, but the indication of v.1 is listed, leading to the designation of a likely date in 1908.

There is a dated portion for 2:1 (Apr 1909), but no additional fragments.

The collection has a dated portion (photocopy only) (p. 1-2) for 3:1 (Apr 1910). In addition, fragments 2, 5, and 6 are part of this issue (collectively p. 3-14).

There is a dated portion for 3:2 (Jun 1910) (2 pages), but no additional confirmed fragments.

Fragment 9 is 3:3 (Aug 1910) (2 pages).

Fragments 18 and 19 are from the same issue, probably June 1910 or August 1910.

Fragment 1 (12 pages) is believed to be December 1910.

There is a dated portion (2 pages) for no. 15 (Mar/Jul 1913), with no additional fragments.

Fragments 21, 23, and 24 have not been identified (21 and 23 are small; 24 consists of pieces only).

Holdings: 3:11 (Sep 1907) (The apostolic faith) (incomplete and fragile)

Holdings (all issues incomplete and fragile): 1:2 (Jul 1908); 1:? (? 1908); 2:1 (Apr 1909); 3:1 (Apr 1910); 3:2 (Jun 1910); 3:3 (Aug 1910); (Dec 1910?); no. 15 (Mar/Jul 1913)

There are also photocopies of all issues and fragments.
