Description: Press photo of Manuel Espinosa, a former political prisoner in Cuba who became Pentecostal and started a congregation called Iglesia Evangelica Penttecostal (Hialeah, FL), 1975.

Manuel Angel Espinosa (1939-1987) was born in Cuba and was a political prisoner under the Castro regime. He came to the United States in 1962 and became well-known for his public criticism of Fidel Castro. He became a Pentecostal in 1972, he was ordained by the Iglesia Evangelica Pentecostal (Miami, FL) in 1974, and he started his own congregation, Iglesia Evangelica Pentecostal (Hialeah, FL), in 1975. This press photo, in July 1975, shows Espinosa following an attack in his church by two men who opposed Espinosa's political views regarding Cuba.
