Description:	Essie Binkley West was an early worker with Aimee Semple McPherson. She became known as the 'Angel of Skid Row.' She played her trumpet on skid row, stopping in bars to preach and pass the hat. In 1941, she started the Sunshine Mission a home for unwed mothers. The donor, Leatha Perkins Dahlgren, writes, 'I recall hearing about her often, by way of newspapers when she was often written about and congratulated for her work at her Sunshine Mission and her home for girls. This was an angel who made a difference in many lives. I don't think scandal was ever attached to her name.'
