Oral history interview submitted for Pentecostal Foundations class at Evangel College with George R. Stotts as instructor.
Student interviewer comments: Everett Phillips was born in November of 1905 of a Pentecostal family. He was raised on missionary literature but did not go to the field until the early 1940s. His place of ministry was Nigeria. The interview took place on January 176, 1976 at Central Assembly, Springfield, Mo. Brother Phillips, approximately 71 years old, shows no signs of senility. He is very much alive and has a great enthusiasm for the things of God. He also appears to have a quick mind and a sharp memory.
An important aspect of this interview is that it shows the integration of God’s will and timing with the Assemblies of God organization. It is also significant because of the revival in Nigeria which brother Phillips stepped in on. He also tells the story about a man named Harris, who approximately 100 years previous to Phillips’ arrival in Africa, was known to travel about West Africa preaching repentance from idolatry, an almighty God and the coming of a ‘man with a book.’
Russell Rutler interviews Everett L. Phillips, former missionary to Nigeria.
