Description:

The first mention of the West Central District is from a correspondence from J. R. Evans to Roy E. Scott, Nov. 4, 1929. Another correspondence between the two dated Nov. 9, 1929 appears to show that even though they may have started to use the name West Central District, it was not officially passed by the Executive Presbytery. Since the West Central District letterheads began in 1930, the name change may have begun at the beginning of the year of 1930. The West Central District included Iowa and northern Missouri. In 1964 this district was divided, making two districts, the Iowa District and the Northern Missouri District. T. E. Gannon continued as superintendent of the new Iowa District.
These files also include: an annual questionnaire for ordained preachers filled out by Charles Edward Long; a list of churches in the West Central District; an application for affiliation for The Assembly of God (Lineville, Iowa); an annual questionnaire for ordained preachers filled out by Charles D. Trotter; a news clipping title, “Church Severs Ties.”
The letterhead on the correspondences have varying district names: Iowa and Northern Missouri District Council (1923-1925); Iowa, North Missouri and Northeastern Nebraska District Council (1929); West Central District (1930-1964).
