Frank Chikane serves both as the director-general of South Africa and as an ordained minister of the Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa. In the 1970s he was imprisoned for actions that he viewed as consistent with his role as a pastor, but which the apartheid government viewed as treasonous. In 1985 he was detained and tried for treason, but the charges were dismissed.
