Description:

Det Norske Misjonsforbund was founded in 1884. In its early years, it was influenced by Norwegian-American revivalist Fredrik Franson. The DNM grew significantly in the 1930s and 1940s under the influence of Swedish-Finnish evangelist Frank Mangs, whose meetings often included charismatic utterances. In recent years, many DNM congregations have participated in the charismatic renewal. The DNM is distinct from Pentecostals, and some DNM congregations reject charismatic gifts.
This collection consists of correspondence (1982-1987) and newspaper clippings (1980s-1991) regarding the DNM's relationship to various Pentecostal and charismatic churches (in particular, the Foursquare Church, which grew at the expense of the DNM). This collection was assembled by DNM leader Tor Ingulf Diesen, who maintained a positive attitude toward the charismatic movement.
