Description:
|
On the day before Easter and the fifth day of Passover, Springfield, Missouri's religious community came out to stand against bigotry towards Muslims. Some of those who attended this rally included Jews, Unitarians, Bahai'i, Methodists, and others who met at Springfield's Islamic Center on April 23, 2011. This was after the Islamic Center was damaged through graffiti and needed repairs. Among those offering support were Dr. Billie C. Davis, retired missionary and professor from Evangel University, and her roommate, Sylvia Lee, a retired employee of the Assemblies of God National Office. Dr. Billie Davis (wearing sunglasses) and Sylvia Lee are shown in the community photo (bottom left, in the front) on page 1B of the article.
