Description:

This district was not officially recognized until 1925, even though H. C. Ball was in charge of the Hispanic work as early as January 1918 (when he started the Latin American Conference of the Texas District at a convention in Kingsville, Texas) and possibly even earlier, as he was ordained by the Assemblies of God on January 10, 1915. From 1918-1925 it was called the Latin American Conference. Mexico (mostly border communities) was included with this original conference in 1918. Cuba united with the Latin American Conference in 1923. In 1925, the Latin American District Council was officially recognized. In 1926 El Salvador and Guatemala united with the Latin American District Council. The Latin American District was officially charter on January 4, 1930 by H. C. Ball, Demetrio Bazan, and G. V. Flores.

Also on January 4, 1930, Mexico was given autonomy to form its own Latin church or council. The Spanish Eastern District was divided from the district in November 1956. Later what was left of the Latin District was divided into 4 separate districts in 1972. These were the Gulf Latin American District, Central Latin American District, Midwest Latin America District, and the Pacific Latin American District. Jose Giron continued as superintendent of the new Pacific Latin American District. Additional Spanish districts emerged later.

This certificate is filed in the Latin American District correspondence file (34/5/1, folder 2 of 7).
