Description:

Wesley Parker, an 11-year-old boy, died in 1973 after his parents, Lawrence and Alice Parker, withheld medical help. The parents, who attended First Assembly of God (Barstow, CA), claimed they rejected medicine because of their belief in faith healing. They were convicted of involuntary manslaughter and child abuse. A judge overturned the conviction in 1978. The story was widely reported in the media.
