In 2005, Rev. Elijah L. Hill compiled a biography (Women Come Alive) of Mother Lizzie Robinson (1860-1945), the founder of the Women's Department of the Church of God in Christ. She served as the first supervisor of the department from 1911-1945. She also formed the Prayer and Bible Band, Sewing Circle, and helped form the Home and Foreign Mission Board. Her daughter, Ida F. Baker, was also active in COGIC women's work.
Rev. Elijah L. Hill is a Church of God in Christ historian and an ordained elder.
This collection consists of Rev. Hill's research files on Mother Robinson, some brief biographical items on Rev. Hill, and a number of items documenting the history of the Church of God in Christ. The content includes the following: Correspondence. -- Deed records, (copies) 1935. -- Ida Florence Baker last will and testament (copied), 1965. -- Sermons [many untitled]. -- Souvenir books for various COGIC special occasions (cataloged separately). -- Books (cataloged separately). -- Pamphlets, news clippings. -- Photographs (cataloged separately). Items that are cataloged separately are noted as being part of the Mother Lizzie Robinson / Rev. Elijah L. Hill Collection. Some items have been removed and added to existing FPHC files.
