R. E. Ranger, bishop of the South Central Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Texas of the Church of God in Christ, served as chairman of the Special Advisory Board to Senior Bishop O. T. Jones. Ranger, in this circular, criticized those who wanted to depose Jones. This document is in the form of a letter to [members of the Board of Bishops] and questions the legality of a specially called meeting by the 'Executive Board.' The authority of the Executive Board is in question here. This matter was eventually taken to the Chancery Court of Shelby County, TN--at which time it was decided that the matter should be dealt with in a constitutional convention to be convened on January 30, 1968. The document is signed by Bishop R.E. Ranger, Bishop O.T. Jones, Sr. Bishop. Bishop Ranger accuses the Executive Board of 'rape and violence' concerning the constitution of the Church of God in Christ.
