Following World War II, Rev. E.C. Erickson, pastor of the Duluth Gospel Tabernacle (Duluth, MN), founded this congregation in Los Angeles, at which he spent considerable time, while continuing to pastor the Duluth congregation.

The name of the church eventually became Immanuel Christian Assembly.
