This collection contains many materials on temperance including 22 books--biographies and autobiographies of temperance advocates and songbooks--tracts, newspaper and periodical clippings, post cards, and individual pages from books and periodicals. Some unique items include a politically oriented book about the repealing of the 18th Amendment (prohibition), cartoons, a framed temperance patch (plaque), and an article about the history of antismoking at the back of the miscellaneous folder. Materials are from 1834 to 2002 (though the bulk of material is from the 19th century).
