Mission of Mercy began as a part of the ministry of Mark and Huldah Buntain, who operated missions in Calcutta, India, including orphanages and a hospital. Following Mark Buntain's death, in 1990 the operational aspect of the ministry was transferred to Bethesda Ministries. Bob Houlihan and Kevin Donaldson served as president. The ministry was renamed One Child Matters in 2012.
