Title:

The voice in the wilderness.

Publisher:

Indianapolis, IN ; Detroit, MI ; Louisville, KY : Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith, 1958-

Format:

v. : ill. ; 31 cm.

Description:

The Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith, Inc. (with headquarters in Indianapolis, IN), founded by Samuel N. Hancock in 1957, experienced a schism in 1964 when the majority of churches and ministers rejected the leadership of Presiding Bishop Willie Lee. The group split into two organizations that both used the same name: Willie Lee led the smaller organization (with headquarters in Indianapolis, IN), and Elzie Young led the larger organization (with headquarters in Detroit, MI). Young's larger group kept the charter and, in 1968, Lee's smaller group adopted the name Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith, Inc., International Assemblies. Each organization published its own version of The Voice in the Wilderness, continuing the enumeration of the periodical prior to the schism.

This catalog record is for issues published prior to the 1964 schism and for issues published by Elzie Young after the schism. Prior to the 1964 schism, issues list Willie Lee as Presiding Bishop and Elzie Young as Assistant Presiding Bishop. After the 1964 schism, Elzie Young was listed as Presiding Bishop and the place of publication was moved to Detroit.
