M. E. (Mahlon E.) Layne, an active A/G layman, provided funds for the establishment of the Layne Hospitality Home of San Diego in 1941. The home served as a temporary residence for Navy men who desired to be in a Christian environment while on leave. The home housed thirty men. Retired A/G pastor Irvin Rattan and his wife Bertha served as the first directors of the home.
When: Saturday, May 26, 1990. Where: Faith Chapel's 'One Way Inn,' Spring Valley, California. Pastor: George R. Gregg [AG ordained].
