This trio consisted of sisters Candi and Maggie Staton, along with Naomi Harrison. They were trained under Naomi's great grandmother, Mattie Lou Jewell, hence the group name (listed as Jewel on this record, but more commonly, Jewell). Mattie was Bishop of the Jewell Dominion of the Church of the Living God.

Jesus is Listening was composed by Rev. Lorenzo Harrison, Naomi's father. He was an accomplished musician, especially on the pedal steel guitar.

The record label is marked 'Sample Copy,' perhaps a promo for radio stations. The same songs were also released on a 78 rpm record the same year.
