Description: Jane Dowie, portrait, standing next to a podium at Zion City, Illinois; November 24, 1929.
Press photograph. Caption says: RETURNS TO ZION CITY TO LEAD FAITHFUL. The above photo shows Mrs. John Alexander Dowie, on her return to Zion, Illinois, to try to restore the faith of the Christian Catholic Apostolic Church, which her late husband founded there. She claims she still possesses the powers of healing which she shared with her late husband before she left Zion 22 years ago, and will practice them. She said she returned because of general dissatisfaction of the colony with Wilbur Glenn Voliva, the present overseer.
