Mary Watkins Blaich was the daughter of Tom Watkins, an influential banker and school board member in Springfield, Missouri. She was introduced to Pentecostalism through Central Assembly of God in Springfield, Missouri. She played the piano at the church and also for special meetings such as those conducted by Smith Wigglesworth.
