Willie Mae Ford Smith was one of the earliest artists to combine jazz and other musical styles into gospel music. She made a significant impression on the development of many of the most noted black gospel artists of the mid-twentieth century. She shunned commercialism; in spite of her appeal and influence, She recorded her first album at 67 years old.
In her earlier years, Willie Mae Ford Smith was a member of the National Baptist Convention (Black). In her early thirties, she converted to Oneness Pentecostalism. For many years, she was a member and ordained minister with the Lively Stone Church of God (Apostolic Faith) in St. Louis.
Side 1: I've got a secret -- The name Jesus -- Never turn back -- Call Him by His name -- All day, all night -- Side 2: Going on with the Spirit -- Canaan -- Give me wings -- Jesus is the light -- Blessed assurance
