Description: Exterior view of Shilah at Durham, Maine, as it appeared on February 20, 1946, the day after a duel that killed two people. This is an International News Photo with the following caption: 'SHILOH TEMPLE--WHERE TWO WERE SLAIN. DURHAM, ME....AN AURA OF MYSTIC TRAGEDY HANGS HEAVY OVER SHILOH TEMPLE, THE HILLTOP RETREAT OF A RELIGIOUS CULT KNOWN AS 'THE HOLY GHOST AND US' AFTER TWO MEN WERE SHOT AND KILLED AND ANOTHER MAN AND WOMAN WERE WOUNDED. THE ARROW POINTS TO THE SECOND FLOOR PARLOR WHERE THE SHOOTING TOOK PLACE. THE DEAD WERE IDENTIFIED AS LORRAINE LA PRISE WHO ENTERED THE TEMPLE WITH A DRAWN GUN ASKING FOR MONEY, AND CHARLES REEDER WHO ENTERED INTO A GUN DUEL WITH LA PRISE. AFTER REEDER WAS KILLED THE CULTISTS SUCCEEDED IN DISARMING AND SHOOTING TO DEATH LORRAINE LA PRISE BUT NOT BEFORE TWO OTHERS WERE WOUNDED BY STRAY BULLETS.'
