Album #: Gospel MG-3103
The Caravans were formed by Robert Anderson in 1947, but achieved greater success under the leadership of Albertina Walker after Anderson left the group in 1952.
This album was first released on the Sharp Record label in 1960. While Cleveland had sung before his time with Albertina Walker and the Caravans, his major success began as a part of that group. This album was reissued by Gospel/Savoy in 1973.
Cleveland's varied church affiliation is uncertain. On at least 2 time periods, he was part of COGIC churches. At other times, he was part of black Baptist churches. Albertina Walker was Baptist.
Shirley Caesar was also a member of the Caravans at the time of this recording.
Side 1: Think of His goodness -- Tell the angels -- Crucifixion -- Solid rock -- Old time religion -- Side 2: Steal away -- Standing in the need of prayer -- None but the righteous -- Onward Christian soldiers -- Jesus
