The Helen Robinson Youth Chorus or choir was a popular Black community choir in the early days of the gospel music scene in Chicago. The group was active from the late 1940s into the 1960s. Helen Robinson formed the group with her 7 children and other area youth.
Margaret Aikens and Ollie Lafayette were prominent in the black gospel movement in Chicago. They were both songwriters and singers. They formed a publishing company and record label to distribute their music and that of other artists. The two songs on this recording were written by them. Aikens and Lafayette were Pentecostal.
Side 1: The only hope we have / Margaret Aikens -- side 2: Fill me Lord / Ollie Lafayette.
