The Peculiar People, a small Wesleyan Holiness denomination in England, was founded in 1838. The group practiced enthusiastic worship and faith healing and, in many ways, was a forerunner of the Pentecostal movement. In 1956, the group changed its name to Union of Evangelical Churches.
