Description:

Manford C. Evans (1881-1963) was owner and publisher of the Sherburn (MN) Advance-Standard newspaper from 1917 until 1932. During that time, he was a member of the Sherburn (MN) Gospel Tabernacle and also published the periodicals of the North Central District Council of the Assemblies of God. In 1932, he moved to Portland, Oregon, where he served in ministry at Calvary Tabernacle, an independent Pentecostal church pastored by Willard H. Pope. He edited Pope's magazine, Radio Evangel, and also wrote and published plays and other Christian literature.
